The Training Ground: What does NET do to gather and act on candidates’ feedback on AM2?

Q. I see lots of talk online about AM2 and people commenting on their experience. What does NET do to gather and act on candidates’ feedback?

NET has always proactively sought feedback from candidates to gather views on their assessment. For many years this was done via an online survey completed at the end of every initial AM2 assessment. Over nearly a 10-year period we amassed over 41,000 responses.

Since 2019, an independent professional research body has conducted our customer survey to give us the most authoritative picture of candidate satisfaction. All candidates completing their assessment receive a text message with a link to a feedback survey, which includes both closed and open-ended questions with opportunities for detailed and specific comment.

The online survey complements the face-to-face and remote feedback that NET Technical Development Managers gather when they speak to candidates directly after their assessment.

We encourage everyone to be comprehensive in their feedback and raise any urgent issues with NET straight away. It’s often frustrating when allegations or complaints are raised over social media channels rather than brought to us directly, as we have no way of authenticating or investigating.

Wherever possible, NET will look at ways to improve the assessment, taking feedback into account. Recent examples include breaking down Section A of the assessment into smaller re-sit chunks, to save the candidate time and money, and allowing certain personal hand tools to be used during the assessment. Both these changes came about in response to candidate feedback.

Customer comments allow us to regularly review candidate experiences and the NET centre network, to continue our cycle of ongoing feedback and improvement. So please do either raise issues with NET directly, or be sure to complete the NET feedback survey after the assessment.
