Working on your own? Need some technical advice? Don’t know where to turn? The technical team at Megger answers the latest technical query from end users.
YOU ASK:
I HAVE A LARGE NUMBER OF EV CHARGEPOINTS THAT REQUIRE THE INTERNAL RDC DEVICE TO BE TESTED ONLY – NOT THE INCOMING RCD PROTECTION. IS THERE A WAY OF SPEEDING THIS UP AND NOT HAVING TO MANUALLY CYCLE THROUGH THE OUTPUT STATES OF THE EV CHARGEPOINT EVERY TIME?
MEGGER SAYS:
There is now! The RCD/RDC test sequence of Megger’s MFT-X1 multifunction installation tester can be configured to test only the RDC. However, it may also be beneficial to test the input RCD at half rated current (1⁄2I) to guard against nuisance tripping. Also Megger has just introduced the new EVX100 charge point testing adaptor for use exclusively with the MFT-X1. This innovative adaptor automatically cycles the charger through states A, B, C and back when the protective device trips. It will save you a lot of time and frustration! That’s not the only benefit of the EVX100 adaptor. It mounts directly onto the MFT-X1, so there are no unwieldy and inconvenient interconnecting cables, and it’s controlled from the MFT-X1 user interface. When you plug in the EVX100, the MFT-X1 shows only the options relevant to EV testing, which eliminates possible confusion and makes it very easy to use. It also provides essential safety checks on the operation of the PP and CP circuits via the MFT-X1. Without a doubt, the MFT-X1 plus EVX100 adaptor will transform your chargepoint testing!
