Some of Luceco’s most important innovations during 2024

Tania Tams, Marketing Director at Luceco gives an overview of some of the company’s most important innovations during 2024.

In an ever-changing electrical market, driven by many factors, not least the requirements of new legislation to support the UK’s Net Zero ambitions as well as exciting technological advances, there’s a constant demand for new products that can effectively fulfil these needs – across all areas.

That’s where Luceco comes in. Not only specialists in LED lighting, Luceco’s brand portfolio includes BG Electrical for high quality innovative wiring accessories and circuit protection, Masterplug for portable power and Sync Energy for EV charging with further sustainable solutions coming soon.

Driven to develop and deliver

At Luceco, we’re driven to develop and deliver the best products and services to our customers. That’s why it’s been a busy year for the company, with a host of new product launches – from our FType fire-rated downlights and superfast USB-C wall sockets to the Evolve Matt Black range of switches and sockets and the Wall Charger 2 EV charger – each one aimed at providing real tangible benefits not only to the end users, but also to the installer.

Simplifying for success

For example, with our FType fire-rated downlights, we simplified the previously convoluted process that installers had to go through when selecting fire-rated downlights. By refining the FType range to three models – FType Ultra, FType Mk2 and FType Essence – there are no complex decisions to be made since multiple benefits are packed into each lighting model.

When it comes to styling, the FType range delivers on a number of key fronts. The clever Dim2Warm solution, which gives the feel of halogen but with the energy efficiency of LED, provides a choice of cool to warm lighting, enabling the creation of a unique ambience in every room as desired. In addition, there are three different fitting styles – regressed, flat and adjustable – allowing the light to be adapted to the needs of the space, along with different bezel options to allow matching to new or existing colour schemes. This unique flexibility can offer an incredible 209 styles and colour combinations via the three FType models.

With installers in mind, the FType features a ClipFit System that allows full unrestricted access for easier wiring. Once cables are attached, a simple push into the housing and close of the lid secures the cables. The QuickView Cable Window means inspection is simple and gives additional safety – it’s easy to check that no wires have become dislodged or moved before connecting the downlight and pushing it back into the ceiling.

Super-fast charging

Also launched this year was BG’s superfast USB-C wall sockets which combine high-speed charging with quick and easy installation and provide a great upsell for installers.

Whilst the number of portable devices requiring USB charging continues to rise and with most only supplied with the charging cable and no plug adaptor, BG’s superfast 45 W charge socket, with integrated USB-C and USB-A ports is capable of charging high power devices such as laptops, tablets and video equipment as well as smartphones.

Featuring smart charging with variable voltage, this socket supports both high and low power needs as it only delivers the power to the device when it needs it.

And, when it comes to aesthetics, the socket is available across multiple BG ranges including Nexus Metal, White Moulded, Flatplate and Evolve which now features the stylish Matt Black finish, also new in 2024.

Charging ahead with Sync Energy

Having recently gone down the route of swapping to an electric car, I’m well aware of the fears consumers face around charging and costs. Installing an EV wall charger, such as our Sync Energy Wall Charger 2, with integrated solar charging, is proving both a popular and money saving solution for consumers as well as a great upsell and customer lock-in opportunity for installers.

Ingeniously, thanks to the intuitive smartphone App, homeowners can cut their home-based EV charging costs with Wall Charger 2. By utilising surplus solar energy from their existing solar panels – with no modifications to panels required – instead of having any surplus directed back to the grid, homeowners can potentially charge their electric vehicles for free with Sync Energy.

In addition, with personalised settings such as scheduled charging and optimised cut-off points, allowing users to charge dynamically and maximise cheap rates of electricity, the Sync Energy Wall Charger 2 delivers a faster home charge compared to plugging a charging cable directly into a 3-pin socket which gives a very slow charge at a fixed rate.

With a charging capacity of up to 7.4 kW with a standard household single- phase electrical supply, and a 3-phase version available which can deliver up to 22 kW and is ideal for commercial customers, the Wall Charger 2 – which can be controlled via a smartphone – allows property owners to rent out their charger, for example to visitors or even neighbours, providing additional income.

We strive to provide the highest quality product and services to installers and their customers. Our understanding of the market, and the direction it is heading, ensures that we will continue to deliver on all counts.

Installers of our products have the ultimate in support and back-up. We’re not only EV charging like a lot of providers, we’re also well-versed in all things electrical and we understand that whether it’s lighting, decorative 45 W Superfast charging or EV charging, installers welcome a supplier like Luceco Group who fully supports them.
