Vent-Axia is excited to announce the launch of its latest CIBSE-approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course: ‘Introduction to Heat Recovery Ventilation’.
Designed to give attendees a way to enhance their professional knowledge and career opportunities, the course provides a greater understanding of heat recovery ventilation, how it works, why it works, and its benefits for commercial applications. This new CPD complements Vent-Axia’s existing CIBSE-approved course on ‘Legislation for Commercial Ventilation’, providing delegates with valuable knowledge on ventilation compliance.
Continuing Professional Development is a long-term commitment to undertake, maintain, improve, and broaden knowledge and skills. CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) members are required by the Code of Professional Conduct to maintain professional competence, with CIBSE providing clear guidance and support for professional development to enable members to develop their career. Vent-Axia aims to aid construction professionals in furthering their ventilation knowledge and skills with its new CPD focusing on the importance of heat recovery ventilation as the UK moves towards its 2050 Net-Zero target.
Vent-Axia’s ‘Introduction to Heat Recovery Ventilation’ CPD therefore provides attendees with a greater understanding of:
- Heat recovery ventilation and its benefits;
- Why heat recovery ventilation is needed;
- How heat recovery works;
- The different types of heat recovery;
- What makes a good heat recovery unit;
- Using performance data;
- Designing systems and applications.
Alexis Roberts, Channel Marketing Manager at Vent-Axia said “We are excited to launch our new CIBSE-approved CPD on heat recovery ventilation. Heat recovery is key to reducing carbon emissions, helping the UK meet its Net-Zero 2050 target. Buildings need to decarbonise, which will involve the wide-scale electrification of heating, a move away from fossil fuels, as well as significant improvements to air tightness and building insulation. Heat recovery ventilation will be a key technology to help deliver the final piece of the carbon avoidance by preventing heat loss, so as a technology, it is set for significant growth. It is therefore vital specifiers are familiar with this critical technology”
The Vent-Axia CPD explores the key drivers behind the increasing adoption of heat recovery ventilation, including Building Regulations, the need for greater energy efficiency, and the growing emphasis on indoor air quality (IAQ). Delegates will gain an understanding of how heat recovery works with the CPD covering key system operation principles. The course highlights how heat recovery ventilation delivers a balanced approach, improving IAQ while minimising energy loss. This promotes a healthy indoor environment while conserving energy, making it the cornerstone of low-carbon building design.
The session also covers the different types of heat recovery available, including crossflow, counterflow, rotary wheel, and run-around coil (RAC) systems. This insight supports specifiers in selecting the most appropriate system for each application.
Another vital section of the CPD explains what makes a good heat recovery unit, with a focus on critical components, such as energy-efficient motors, high-grade filtration, summer bypass functions, and frost protection. The course also underlines the importance of unit construction and installation quality, including important considerations such as accessibility and ease of maintenance to support long-term system performance.
In addition, delegates will also learn how to interpret key performance data such as sound levels, Specific Fan Power (SFP) and heat recovery efficiency (HR%) all vital when specifying. The CPD explores system design and application, providing practical guidance on how to specify and apply heat recovery systems effectively across a range of different building types and sectors.
As well as its latest CPD on heat recovery ventilation, Vent-Axia also offers a CIBSE-Approved CPD on ‘Legislation for Commercial Ventilation – Building Regulations’. By attending this CPD delegates will gain a greater understanding of market drivers, an overview of Building Regulations, and a focus on Approved document F and Approved document L.
