CEF LIVE 2017

Thousands gain exclusive insight into 18th Edition at CEF LIVE.

Around 3,000 visitors attended this year’s CEF LIVE at Birmingham’s NEC Arena back in June. The two-day, bi-annual tradeshow, hosted by City Electrical Factors (CEF), featured exclusive insight into the much anticipated 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.

NICEIC industry legends, Tony Cable and Darren Staniforth, drew in hundreds of audience members for their preview of the upcoming regulations. The IET’s Mark Coles and Stephen Devine also discussed how energy efficiency will feature in the new legislation and the importance of avoiding sub-standard products. Both days also included seminars on how to legally deal with electrical waste – a key environmental issue within the industry – as well as demonstrations of best practice when it comes to electrical safety.

These included DeWALT, Milwaukee, Klein Tools, Dimplex, Electrium Schneider, Eaton, 3M and Aico, along with technology innovators Nest and Hive. On stand, visitors were able to take part in live demonstrations and trial the latest products.

CEF LIVE-Young BoysIn a new development for the 2017 event, the second day of CEF LIVE featured a special focus on young professionals in the electrical contracting sector, including a host of activities designed specifically for those entering the trade. Supportive workshops and fun challenges, hosted by JTL – the electrical industry’s training body – were available for those looking to develop their industry knowledge and skills.

Chris Ashworth, General Manager, CEF said: “CEF LIVE 2017 was an incredible success – even bigger and better than 2015 and the response we have had from customers and suppliers has been overwhelmingly positive. In fact, the feedback has been so great we have already committed to dates for CEF LIVE 2019.

“We’re extremely thankful to everyone who supported CEF LIVE this year, especially the exhibitors, speakers and attendees. There was a great buzz and with the skills gap continuing to grow, it has never been more important to promote our industry as the vibrant and dynamic sector it is today.”
