Award-winning Rolec Services has the perfect solution for commercial electric vehicle charging points in the form of WallPod: EV CommercialCharge.
With Electric Vehicle (EV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) sales ever increasing in the UK, more and more commercial sites are requesting EV charging points to attract customers. Benefits of these hard-wearing, BS EN 60335-1 certificated wall mounted units include low cost, ease of install and excellent levels of safety and reliability.
The units contain a built-in LED charging status indicator – available in 230V and 400V AC – and come ready to install with full internal wiring. They include overload and fault current protection (RCBO), are available in a variety of colours and branding options, and are easy to maintain. In addition they are IP65 rated, UV stabilised and CE certified and enables full Mode 3 fast charging to be offered via tethered leads or sockets.
“The units have received certifications from major car manufacturers including Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.”
“Our WallPod: EV CommercialCharge unites have been specifically designed for charging EVs in commercial locations such as offices, factories, restaurants, hotels, sports venues, etc,” explains Darren North, Rolec’s Power Solutions General Manager. “The units have received certifications from major car manufacturers including Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.”
Expansive offering
WallPod: EV CommercialCharge is just one option on offer from Rolec’s EV charging point spectrum – the largest range in Europe and compatible with all EVs on the market today.
Darren continued: “Our WallPod: EV CommercialCharge units have been extremely successful because they prove so cost-effective when it comes to adding EV charging points to commercial locations – prices start at under £297 (excluding VAT).
“We can also provide a wide range of further add-on options, such as keyswitch control, internal mini-meters to track charge usage, and timers so that EV charging can be carried out at the most economical times.
“With domestic sales of EVs and Plug-in Hybrids (PHEVs) experiencing a huge increase, now is the time for electricians to expect huge demand for EV charging point facilities from commercial sites. Many fleet drivers have a pressing requirement for easily accessible EV charging points too.
“The good news for electricians and their customers is that it is not necessary to dig up any areas, such as a carpark, to install our EV charging points – we offer an altogether painless way of providing EV charging to commercial locations involving just a dedicated live, neutral and earth circuit which any electrician is able to deal with.”
How do Rolec EV charging points work?
There is a communication module within the EV charging point that talks to the car when it is plugged in to check the connection. There are two data channels: PX (Proximity) checks the cable rating and CP (Control Pilot) is a bi-directional data stream initiated by the charging station, which checks the charge status.
When the EV is plugged in the charging station displays the maximum current available. The EV waits for the correct signals before taking any charge and can detect problems before starting. No charge is drawn if there is a fault.
