Award-winning homebuilder adds myenergi zappi chargers to headquarters

One of the UK’s greenest housebuilders, Greencore Construction, has added 10 myenergi zappi solar-compatible electric vehicle (EV) chargers to its headquarters in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Having previously installed myenergi zappi chargers at its Springfield Meadows development in Southmoor, Oxfordshire for an electric car club, the award-winning designer and builder of Climate Positive homes now has zappi chargers in more than 60% of the parking bays at its headquarters with 10 chargers in total, including one in an accessible parking bay, and are looking to install a large solar array to help power both the building and the chargers.

Greencore Construction is renowned for building homes that are built to Passive House thermal performance standards. The homes are net-zero energy and net zero carbon in use and the embodied carbon or carbon footprint is below zero. Whereas according to RIBA, a normal 100m2 home typically has a carbon footprint of 120 tonnes of carbon , a typical Greencore Construction home of the same size would have a carbon footprint of minus 27 tonnes.

Ian Pritchett, co-founder and Growth & Innovation Director of Greencore Construction, said: “We go well beyond the standards set in UK home building regulations and aim to deliver homes that are incredibly efficient, designed and built with the lowest impact, to consume the lowest possible amount of energy. In myenergi, we see a partner that also goes beyond, developing EV chargers and other smart home energy technology that exceeds customer expectations, making it the obvious choice to bring EV charging to our headquarters.”

Jordan Brompton, co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of myenergi, said: “Just like Greencore Construction believes in delivering homes that are comfortable, natural and efficient, without compromising on quality, we are pioneering a simple transition to renewable energy. Our eco-smart home technology helps customers to better understand their energy, monitoring and maximising it to achieve the greatest level of self-consumption from renewable power, making them more energy independent and ultimately helping them to reduce their bills and their carbon footprint.”
