Chorley based Hispec, the UK supplier of fire detection and lighting products, is raising money for national charity, Electrical Industry Charity (EIC).
Ahead of taking on Tough Mudder in July, the Hispec team aims to raise at least £1,000 for EIC to support those within the electrical and energy sector.
From helping individuals and families in day-to-day life, to providing financial, legal and medical support, EIC has been looking after those within the industry for more than 100 years.
Chris Loughlin, managing director of Hispec said: “EIC is a charity which is close to the hearts of many within our team. Having worked in the electrical industry for many years, I know just how important the organisation is to people across the sector.
“We’re aiming to raise at least £1,000 ahead of taking part in Tough Mudder, but I have no doubt the team will absolutely smash this fundraising target. Tough Mudder is known for being a physical challenge, and we’ll all be pushing ourselves to the limit in July, so the training has started!”
Tough Mudder is known for being an intense challenge which sees competitors take on multiple obstacles over a lengthy course. The Hispec team will be taking part in the Manchester challenge, which comprises 20+ obstacles over six miles – it’s designed to test participants’ strength, stamina, and mental grit and feature obstacles that tap into common human fears like fire, water, electricity, and heights.
Sam Cox, client relationship director at Hispec, said: ‘I think I speak on behalf of the whole team when I say Tough Mudder is going to be quite the challenge! It will be a great bonding experience for the team, but most importantly, we’re raising money for a charity that supports people across the sector, something which is important to many of us.”
