A leading Midlands electrical and mechanical company is celebrating after raising thousands of pounds for charity to mark its 25th year in business.
Orton Group, which specialises in electrical and mechanical design, installation and maintenance, has reached its fundraising target of £25,000, and has handed cheques to the charities selected by its team, including: Guide Dogs for the Blind, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and Peter Pan’s Nursery.
“To have celebrated such a huge milestone after setting up the business at 21 years old is a huge achievement for me personally,” explained Andrew Lowe, Managing Director of Orton Group. “We have grown to employ some of the industry’s top mechanical and electrical engineers, and we’re proud to work with some of the nation’s best-known names across rail, social housing, new build and domestic housing organisations.”
The fundraising spanned almost a year, with various events undertaken including a group climb of Mount Snowdon, completion of Tough Mudder, and a 250k bike ride (in stilettos) completed by its PR agency, as well as an Ultra White Collar Boxing Match, car boot sales and sponsored silences.
“In celebration of such a special milestone, we decided that there was no better way to mark it than by giving something back to the community by raising money for charities close to our hearts,” Andrew added.
“We couldn’t have done it without the very generous support and donations from some of our clients and suppliers across the sectors we serve, as well as the hard work and sheer determination shown by our team and their families and friends, who went above and beyond to make the various events a success.
“While we’re all quite exhausted by the challenge, we’re absolutely elated to have achieved what we set out to, and are so grateful to the support we received throughout. Here’s to another 25 years!” Andrew concluded.
