Twenty new recruits are joining the hundreds of young people across the country that are already getting an inside view of electrical, mechanical, high voltage and Electrical Vehicle (EV) infrastructure installations and establishing the foundations of their careers in an apprenticeship with Enerveo.
Enerveo, one of the largest multi-disciplinary modern contracting businesses in the UK, mix a recognised qualification with valuable hands-on experience in its industries for where there’s demand and a current shortfall for a skilled workforce. Twenty new recruits have just joined its apprenticeship scheme, taking the total of young people given the opportunity to 180 in the last five years alone.
The twenty new apprentices are set to start imminently, after completing a six-week traineeship, ahead of their apprenticeship, in the Apprenticeship Academy which launched earlier this year with support from JTL. All twenty will be specialising in an electrical apprenticeship and have been recruited from all over the country.
Apprentice, Charlie Elliot, said: “My journey with Enerveo has been amazing so far. During the traineeship, there were lots of opportunities to learn in different ways. My favourite parts were the online tutorials, group discussions and team building days. This has made me really excited about starting my electrical insulations apprenticeship and all the new friends I will make.”
Carolyn Reed, Enerveo HR director, said: “Apprentices are the backbone of our industry and we are honoured that we have had such a number apply, be successful, join us and then go on to flourish through our dedicated scheme.
“All of our recruits gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst also learning from the very best, all in real-life situations, making sure each individual acquires new skills which will help build and improve their understanding of the industry from the foundations up.
“We feel we are very much doing our part here at Enerveo to bring fledgling talent into the industry and to equip them for a long prosperous career. Also, hopefully helping to prevent skill shortages both now and in the future. This year we have taken on more candidates than ever before and we can’t wait for them to explore our plethora of services and meet our diverse network of amazing people.”
Each apprentice will be given time, hands-on experience and be able to shadow experts across Enerveo’s multitude of services such as electrical, mechanical, high voltage, test and inspection services, EV charging and street lighting.
Carolyn added: “We’re so pleased to have kick-started these new recruits’ journeys with a six-week traineeship across the summer with help from JTL. This will only put them in a more positive position as they begin their experiences with us and as they build their paths to their future careers.”
The apprenticeship scheme follows a number of training initiatives Enerveo offers, which are designed to support their career development, such as Project Manager and Degree Apprenticeships.
