One year on from the Lighting Industry Academy opening its doors to the industry, it has taught over 800 students at its purpose built facility in Telford and created a learning portfolio encompassing the full spectrum of lighting.
Now revised, the LIA Certificate has evolved to meet the challenges of the industry today. Its new modular format has already seen a 57% increase in students, designed for those embarking on a career in lighting, also those in the industry looking to further develop their skills and knowledge.
To complement the courses, the Academy has a range of tutors, from LIA professionals to some of the most respected names in the industry.
The Academy’s first year culminated in welcoming the inaugural class of its industry defining HNC in Lighting Design and Technology. This is the first qualification at this level in the UK, taught by LIA and University of South Wales (USW) with key players such as OSRAM & Holophane Europe enrolling students.
“The LIA Academy is the place of Learning for anyone who wants to further, or build, a career in lighting. Holophane, both as a member company of the LIA, and as a strong believer in the power of learning, are delighted to endorse the merits of the academy, by putting our first student forward on the first intake of the HNC certificate. This Academy reflects the commitment and intent of the LIA to be a global leader in lighting education.” Commented Alasdair McRury, VP and Managing Director EMEA, Holophane Europe Ltd.
The HNC, like all the Academy’s courses, are structured to attract new talent and develop existing careers within all sectors of the lighting industry.
