In celebration of Marshall-Tufflex’s 80th Birthday, Sally-Ann Hart, local MP for Hastings and Rye was warmly welcomed to the company’s head office and manufacturing facility in Hastings to hear about the achievements of the company over the past eight decades. On her visit, Sally-Ann was particularly keen to learn how the cable management manufacturer has pioneered the use of recycled content into its processes.
A key highlight of the visit was observing how Marshall-Tufflex’s compounder machine contributes to the company’s sustainable credentials. The machine processes offcuts from PVC-U window production and those removed from buildings to granulate the material into chips that are then used in the production of Marshall-Tufflex’s PVC-U trunking and conduit systems.
The result is a quality cable management product that prevents waste material from going to landfill whilst offering installers and specifiers a more sustainable choice.
Sally-Ann learned how the company has been refining this process for over 25 years as it continues to innovate and produce superior products made with recycled content. In fact, Marshall-Tufflex is encouraging the industry to follow suit with the aim that by 2028, all PVC-U products installed in buildings will be comprised of at least 50% recycled material.
Sally-Ann Hart, MP of Hastings and Rye said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to Marshall-Tufflex and, in particular, learning about the levels of recycled materials that the company uses in its manufacturing process. In 2020 it recycled an average of 74% waste material across its PVC-U range, which is impressive. I congratulate the Company on celebrating its 80th Anniversary this year. The business moved to Hastings in 1957 and has, therefore, been a valuable local employer for many years.”
Jon Chamberlain, Managing Director at Marshall-Tufflex said: “It was a pleasure to show Sally-Ann behind the scenes at our headquarters and manufacturing plant and demonstrate how we incorporate thousands of tonnes of waste material into our production processes each year. We are proud of our heritage and culture and were delighted to speak with Sally-Ann about how far we have come since we were founded in 1942.”
