Shrewsbury Cricket Club, based on the outskirts of the historical Shrewsbury Town, Shropshire, is a friendly, sociable and inclusive cricket club with a variety of facilities available for players. The cricket club is located within a short distance of the Shrewsbury Business Park, Shropshire’s premier business park which is home to over 70 businesses across a wide range of industries.
Parking in Shrewsbury can be incredibly difficult with its quaint streets and bustling community, and unfortunately, this limited parking issue is also prevalent at the industrial business park. Thankfully, the neighbouring cricket club has a vast car park and allows businesses from the park to rent out spaces for their staff and customers. This helps to encourage strong community relationships and allows businesses to work together to find a solution to the parking shortage.
Thankfully the cricket club car park is vast. The downside is that it did not have sufficient lighting to cover its mammoth area, which created difficult navigation during the winter months and safety concerns after dark. OG2 lighting were appointed by Shrewsbury Cricket Club to provide adequate solar lighting solutions to improve safety, appeal and wayfinding for the car park.
OG2 installed sensor-based Global Axis Solar lights, with 360-degree area lighting optics. These unique solar luminaires feature the light source built into the column. The luminaires stay on for two minutes after initial activation, before shutting off to save energy and battery power. These solar luminaires are an innovative solution, ensuring energy efficiency and a reduction in costs and carbon emissions.
Richard Chapman, Secretary of Shrewsbury Cricket Club, said: “Shrewsbury Cricket Club were very pleased with the advice given by OG2 for the design and layout of the two solar lights we had installed in our large car park. The lights have proved to be ideal for our requirements following a little “tweaking” by OG2 which they undertook without delay to ensure the lighting was as required. If the club requires further lighting in the future we will not hesitate in using OG2 again”.
