Preventing & protecting against van crime together: Van Guard & ARMD

Van Guard has joined forces with ARMD to prevent and protect against van crime.

Van Guard Accessories, a market leader in van accessories and security solutions has partnered with ARMD to prevent and protect against van crime. The new partnership means that businesses and tradespeople across the country can benefit from Van Guard’s best-in-class vehicle security products and ARMD’s innovative tool protection solutions.

Van crime has a significant impact on the UK’s tradespeople and their businesses. The consequences of stolen tools include loss of earnings and reputation, letting down customers and high cost of tool replacement. The cost of replacing tools can be extremely high, with an average loss per break-in being around £350.

A van is broken into every 23 minutes in the UK, with this equating to more than £30m worth of goods stolen annually from vans alone. More than half (51%) of UK builders have had their tools stolen at least once, and almost half (44%) currently do not hold any tool cover insurance.

This means businesses are having to pay out tens of thousands each year for lost earnings through work, all because they have not taken simple steps like securing their van by fitting Van Guard’s ULTILock range or insuring their tools against theft through ARMD.

How Van Guard and ARMD can help:

  • Van Guard offer the ultimate security products, including locks and shielding
  • Their ULTILock range includes the first Gold Standard Sold Secure hooklock, which is also Secured by Design accredited
  • ARMD off a free Tool Inventory app meaning they can quickly help tradespeople get back to business in the unfortunate event their tools get stolen
  • ARMD Insurance provides tradespeople with specific tool protection
  • Utilisation of the app means ARMD can easily see what tools belong to a tradesperson; avoiding any disputes when making a claim
  • Easily replace any stolen tools on ARMD’s tool shop.

Damien Connery, Head of Van Guard’s Commercial Strategy said: “With so many people using vans in their work every day, it is important that they understand how easy it is to protect their vehicles against thieves while also protecting their livelihoods should they become victims of crime.”

“We understand how important tools are to tradespeople. Their livelihood depends on them, and their theft can have consequences that extend beyond just the financial loss of replacement costs. By partnering with ARMD, the combined capabilities of both companies will provide a range of solutions to help combat van crime and ensure tradespeople are protected.”

Van Guard is a leading provider of high-quality vehicle security products and van accessories. With over 45 years’ experience, they have helped many companies reduce their risk of van crime and improve the safety of their vans and fleets.

Van Guard are proud to be partnering with ARMD on this important initiative. They share their commitment to reducing the incidence of van crime in the UK and look forward to working together in the future.
