Building on the success of its first two years, the SPARKS Female Skills Competition is set to return in 2025, with even more excitement and opportunities for emerging industry professionals.
SPARKS, known for its highly regarded ‘Learner of the Year’ competition, remains committed to fostering confidence and skills development within the industry, ensuring that the very best skilled learners are recognised and nurtured.
In February and March 2025, SPARKS will travel across three regions nationwide, seeking the best up-and-coming professionals in the electrical industry. Level 2 and 3 learners from colleges across the country will compete in a live, practical installation test. Each regional winner and runner-up will then advance to the Grand Final, where they will compete for this prestigious award.
In addition to the recognition for both the winning student and their college, there are fantastic prizes to be won. All competitors will receive a certificate of participation, with prizes generously donated by this year’s sponsors including Milwaukee, Aico, Luceco Group, Megger, Snickers Workwear, and National Electrotechnical Training (NET).
The competition will be judged by Darren Oates and Bill Lockyer from NET.
Last year’s winner Charlotte Bobbett from Yeovil College said: “It’s been a real confidence boost for me, I think I probably underestimated myself a little bit!”

Running alongside SPARKS Female Skills Competition will be the Meet the Manufacturer series, which gives manufacturers the chance to network with and update lecturers on the latest industry and product innovations.
