Unitrunk Prepares for Growth with Systems Accreditations

Cable management specialist, Unitrunk, has secured a trio of accreditations as part of a continuous improvement programme intended to formalise systems within the business and lay consistent foundations for growth.

Following a year long process of preparation and audits, the company has successfully achieved the ISO 14001 Environmental accreditation and ISO 9001 Quality Assurance accreditation along with OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety accreditation.

The OHSAS certification is an internationally-recognised UK-based accreditation for health and safety and Unitrunk expects to transition its systems and best practice in this area to the new ISO 45001 Health & Safety standard when this is introduced next year.

All three certifications formalise processes and systems that have been at the heart of Unitrunk’s business for many years, underpinning the company’s reputation for product quality, customer service, environmental responsibility and safety. They will now support Unitrunk’s culture of continuous improvement through regular reviews and audits, enabling best practice to be applied consistently across the company and new enhancements to be integrated into systems and processes on an ongoing basis.

Unitrunk’s operations director, Graham Milligan explains: “The company’s major achievements in the development of our business structure have made this the ideal time to merge our consistent best practices throughout the whole of Unitrunk by implementing an integrated and accredited business management system.

“These certifications not only underpin customer confidence in our systems and integrity, they will also play an important part in succession planning for Unitrunk, ensuring all policies and processes are formalised and consistent across the company to enable knowledge transfer from our health and safety, quality assurance and environmental managers to the whole team.”

Based in Lisburn in Northern Ireland, Unitrunk operates from 6 depots around the UK and the new certifications are also intended to support consistency across all sites, with a single centralised approach that is shareable across the business as it continues to grow.

Graham adds: “As a cable management specialist, we understand that power networks can be compromised if there is no solid infrastructure in place to support them and the same applies to business processes. That’s why we’re so delighted to have successfully achieved these accreditations.”
