Varilight team completes Trailwalker challenge

A team of walkers from Varilight has completed the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge, in July, completing a 100km route within 30 hours.

John Doyle, Tillie Ingram, Josh Copper and George Fry made up the Varilight team which was one of nearly 400 teams that took part. The teams departed from Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Petersfield on a demanding route, which included the challenge of walking through the night, before arriving at Brighton Racecourse.

“It was an extremely challenging distance and each of us had to battle through aches and pains but this only added to the sense of achievement. Walking in the rain overnight was particularly gruelling, but the sun came out in the morning so our spirits were lifted, especially when we could see the finish line!” said John Doyle, Managing Director at Varilight and team leader.

The walkers stopped at nine checkpoints along the way for supplies and encouragement. Between them, the participating teams have raised around £900,000 for Oxfam, with the Varilight team having raised nearly £1800 so far.
