Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is celebrating winning ‘Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year’ category at the prestigious HVR Awards 2023. Scooping the award for the Vent-Axia Sentinel Apex, the next generation of commercial heat recovery ventilation, the Sussex-based company received the accolade at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday 5th October at London’s Chelsea Harbour Hotel.
Organised by Heating and Ventilating Review (HVR) magazine, the HVR Awards are designed to reward and celebrate the success, innovation and technology within the heating and ventilation sector. Attended by influential heating and ventilation specialists from across the whole supply chain, this year critically-acclaimed TV and radio presenter Lindsey Chapman was the host for the evening, with Richard Merritt, head of BESA’s RACHP Group, presenting the awards to winners at the HVR Awards.
Vent-Axia beat stiff competition this year to win the ‘Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year’ category with the standard of entries said to be exceptionally high. After a rigorous judging process, the judges selected the Sentinel Apex. Providing ‘simply more as standard’, the Sentinel Apex simplifies specification and offers significant performance improvements beyond design standards, achieving the holy grail delivering the highest level of indoor air quality (IAQ) and thermal comfort with the lowest energy and noise levels.

Rising prices place an increasing pressure on organisations driving them to seek reductions in energy consumption, without adversely impacting a building’s IAQ and thermal comfort. Apex offers ‘simply more as standard’ rather than needing to specify multiple different components when selecting a commercial heat recovery unit or precisely specifying the level of control required. Specification is simpler.
Designed for a wide range of applications, specifiers can choose from five sizes, delivering airflows up to 4000m3 /h. Providing the highest level IAQ and thermal comfort with the lowest energy and noise levels, Sentinel Apex offers up to 93% heat recovery efficiency (EN308 test method), class-leading ultra-low sound levels, and low SFP, resulting in significant improvement compared to previous commercial heat recovery units.
To help provide good IAQ, Apex features ePM10 50% extract and ePM1 55% supply filters (M5/F7 equivalent) as standard. Despite high filtration, by careful selection of the filter media and utilising the latest motors and impellers with better than IE5 efficiency Apex maintains extremely low SFP and low sound levels.
