BSI gives the stamp of approval for the quality, safety, and security of EO’s products and manufacturing process.
EO Charging (EO), a global leader of EV Charging solutions, has successfully achieved certification from BSI, the business standards and improvement company, for its latest generation of charging hardware. EO’s commercial charger – EO Genius 2 – and domestic charger – EO Mini Pro 3 – is the world’s first Electric Vehicle Charger range with inbuilt PME to be accredited with the BSI Kitemark. The Kitemark is a globally recognised mark for quality, safety and reliability that is held by just two charging manufacturers across the UK.
The BSI Kitemark has been trusted as a sign of quality for more than 100 years and confirms that a product or service’s claims have been independently and repeatedly tested. The Kitemark for Electric Vehicle Charging offers buyers reassurances over the safety and quality of EV chargers, testing against risk criteria – such as electric shock, fire, overheating, safety in operation, and mechanical hazards – as well as looking at the durability and lifespan of products.
Both EO’s chargers have been tested to the full requirements of BS EN IEC 61851-1:2019 incorporating the BSI approved deviation 21/001. This deviation covers the implementation of PEN fault protection within the EV Charger as per the requirements detailed in BS 7671:2018 + A2:2022.
As part of the accreditation, EO is working BSI on an ongoing basis, undergoing regular factory assessments and periodic audits to demonstrate that future products and manufacturing processes continue to meet the standard. This will give customers full confidence that EO’s products are manufactured to the highest industry standards.
Charlie Jardine, CEO at EO Charging, said, “The introduction of a BSI Kitemark for EV Charging is a welcome development for such a fast-growth sector – especially as new products continue to flood the market with limited consumer guidance around product safety and reliability. Understandably, recent reports that some new products on the market are falling short of industry quality expectations will be concerning for EV drivers. We are proud to offer the best in class when it comes to safety and reliability and are delighted that our processes and technologies have been recognised by such a trusted institution. We hope that the Kitemark will give both our commercial and domestic customers the confidence that the safety of their EO charger has been independently verified.”
EO’s Genius 2 is the EO’s second-generation commercial charger which is already used by some of the world’s biggest EV fleets including Amazon, Tesco, and DHL. The AC charger is OCPP-compliant, can power up to 22kW and offers multiple load management options – allowing fleet managers to distribute available power across multiple chargers via OCPP or once connected to the EO Cloud.
EO’s Mini Pro 3 is its signature home EV charger. No bigger than an A5 notepad, the small but mighty 7 kW charger offers flexible features including load management, solar charging, and built-in PEN fault protection for the UK market. With the BSI Kitemark, the Mini Pro 3 is an ideal solution for home charging.
The BSI certified chargers are available to customers upon request.
