Chauvin Arnoux launches two new PELs with enhanced comms options

Featuring an extended range of communications options, the PEL104 and PEL106 are the latest additions to Chauvin Arnoux’s popular range of power energy loggers (PELs). Both instruments are ideal for load studies, energy usage analyses and energy surveys, and both can help users to comply with the energy audit requirements of ISO 50001 and EN 16247-3.

To aid remote monitoring in real time and to provide remote access to data logs, the PEL104 and PEL106 include wi-fi connectivity and support connection to the GRPS and 3G mobile phone networks. To take advantage of this feature, users simply need to provide the PEL with a standard mobile phone SIM card. IRDS connectivity, for access behind firewalls on private IP addresses, is also supported.

The PEL104 has an IP54 ingress protection rating, which makes it suitable for use in almost all commercial and industrial applications indoors but, for applications involving particularly demanding environments or use out of doors, such as installation on a power distribution pole, the PEL106 offers a IP67 ingress protection rating and outstanding resistance to the effects of prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Five voltage channels and four current channels are provided by the PEL106, whereas the PEL104 has four voltage channels and three current channels, with a fourth current channel derived by calculation. Both instruments measure, record and calculate a wide range of parameters including voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power, power factor, phase angles and total harmonic distortion for voltages and currents, including the neutral current.

The PEL106 can also acquire data from up to eight analogue inputs, such as pressure, temperature and motor torque, when used in conjunction with L452 data logger modules. The instruments can be powered from a mains supply, from internal batteries or, with the aid of an optional accessory, from the supply system that is being monitored.
