PE caught up with James Ireland, from Forum Lighting Solutions, to find out what the LumenAir product can offer electricians.
What is the concept behind the LumenAir product?
At Forum we developed our SPA bathroom lighting range with a desire to bring decorative designs to a market previously occupied by uninspiring flush fittings and downlights. The success of our SPA range has encouraged us to create new lighting products for bathroom areas, and the idea of combining decorative lighting with extraction excited us. Our goal was to design a range of easy to install, attractive fittings that incorporated high performance extraction.
What applications are the LumenAir suited to?
LumenAir is suited to both commercial and domestic installations. The product was designed with bathrooms, en-suites and cloakrooms in mind. New build domestic properties, hotel bathrooms, office washrooms and care home bathrooms would all be applications that could benefit from the product’s attractive appearance and time saving installation.
How easy is the product to install?
We always design our products with the installer in mind. We appreciate that the less complicated and time consuming we can make the installation of our products, the better. 
The patented design on the plate that affixes the high performance fan to the light fitting is what makes this range so easy to install. Sitting behind the fan, the plate contains three mounts, one of which houses the power feed to the fitting. These three mounts then securely attach to the light fitting maintaining a 20mm void for the air to pass through.
With LumenAir the electrician has a single installation, rather than wiring a number of downlights into place along with a separate extractor fan. Any installer who chooses LumenAir is going to experience a vast time saving.
What does this product allow electricians to offer their clients?
The LumenAir range comprises of four attractive light fittings, so that there is a design to suit all tastes and applications. Forum appreciate the importance of energy efficiency, so each of these IP44 rated designs either incorporates integral LED technology or is LED compatible.
End users also benefit from the appearance of a single, centrally located fitting and fan being much more aesthetically pleasing than multiple downlights and a wall or ceiling mounted fan.
The high performance 150m3/Hr axial fan included with LumenAir not only offers the customer excellent performance, it operates whilst only emitting a low 35dB of sound.
