Martindale Electric’s top-of-the-range Proving Unit offers AC and DC output

Martindale Electric has launched its top-of-the-range PD690SRD Proving Unit, covering a wide range of applications to help keep workers safe from the dangers of electricity.

Safe working requires the use of a voltage indicator that has been proven with a suitable proving device, before and after use, to ensure the instrument is working correctly, in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations.

The Martindale PD690SRD is fast and easy to use, instantly supplying the test voltage for both high and low impedance voltage indicators, test lamps and meters. The PD690SRD is the ideal tool for use when implementing  safe isolation procedures on low voltage AC installations (not exceeding 1000V AC between conductors).

Today, electrical workers are encountering more and more DC systems, particularly when working within the renewable industries, solar installations and electric vehicle charging to name two. The need to check the correct DC operation of measurement and indication devices used in these applications is therefore increasing. Confirming the correct operation not only helps reassure the user of correct functionality but can also assist with implementing safe working within a DC environment.

For complete flexibility, the Martindale PD690SRD has both AC / DC outputs selectable by a push button switch and stepped voltage output with LED indication, matched to two pole tester thresholds with a maximum output voltage of 690V. It’s good practice to match the output voltage of the proving unit with the voltage range of the instrument to be proved.

In addition, the PD690SRD has a long battery life with low battery indicator, auto power-off and features a robust over-moulded low-profile case with magnetic hangers for ease of use.
