In a compact yet robust handheld unit, Megger’s new DPM1000 digital power clamp meter provides all of the measuring capabilities engineers and technicians routinely need when working on low-voltage power installations. The instrument features an integrated clamp for safe, non-contact current measurement and has a large backlit 10,000 count display that is easy to read even in poorly lit locations.
The DPM1000 also offers Bluetooth® connectivity, allowing measured values to be streamed in real time to a smartphone or tablet running the Megger Link app, which is available free on Android and iOS. Measured values can also be plotted in real time and stored on the connected device for later export to spreadsheets and reports.
Exceptionally versatile, the DPM1000 measures AC and DC current up to 1,000 A, true RMS AC voltage up to 1,000 V and DC voltage up to 1,000 V. It also has an AC+DC voltage measuring mode. In addition, it measures resistance up to 100 kΩ and incorporates a buzzer for convenient continuity checking.
Other features include phase rotation checking, as well as measurement of frequency, power and power factor, harmonics and harmonic distortion, capacitance and temperature. Peak hold, maximum/minimum hold and smart hold functions are also provided, together with facilities for measuring the inrush current of reactive loads and motors. There is also a torch which turns on automatically when the clamp and the non-contact voltage detection features are being used.
“Engineers and technicians have told us that they dislike having to carry around a bag full of instruments to perform routine measurements on power installations,” said Peter Wade of Megger, “so we have introduced the DPM1000 which gives them all of the necessary functionality in a single instrument. Furthermore, we’ve made it easy and convenient to use and, of course, as with every Megger product, it has been designed and manufactured to meet the highest standards of safety, accuracy and durability.”
The new DPM1000 meets the CAT IV 600 V and CAT III 1,000 V requirements in line with the IEC 61010 safety standard. It is supplied complete with test leads, croc clips, temperature probe and battery in a protective carry case. It has a three-year warranty as standard.
