PE has teamed up with Super Rod to launch a brand new photo competition that will further promote safe isolation in the electrical industry.
Following on from last year’s shocking research into the state of safe isolation practices in the UK, Super Rod and CEF have teamed up to launch a national safety awareness ‘Save Our Sparks’ campaign to get more installers thinking about their health and safety at work.
The Save Our Sparks campaign – and the safe isolation research – were both inspired by Michael’s Story. Michael Adamson was just 26 when he died after coming into contact with mains voltage power in an entirely preventable accident at work in August 2005. The findings of the HSE’s investigation into Michael’s death found that there was no lock out kit used, no voltage tester used and that the electricians working on the site had inadequate pliers in terms of leverage and insulation.
By encouraging installers to buy these lifesaving tools through the campaign, Michael’s sister, Louise Taggart hopes that no other family will have to endure what her family has been through.
Send us your snaps and bag a bundle
To support the campaign we’re asking you to send your pictures of safely isolated equipment to us throughout September, with one winner being randomly chosen at the end of each week to win an amazing prize bundle that consists of a Megger AC/DC Voltage/Continuity Tester, a pair of Klein Tools VDE Rated Insulated Cutters and a free MCG Lock Out Kit.
For your chance to win a bundle:
1. Take a photo of a safe isolation you have completed.
2. Post it directly on to the PE Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #SaveOurSparks. Alternatively, you can email it to us at: firstname.lastname@example.org, using the subject title ‘Save Our Sparks’.
3. Once your entry is in, you’ll then automatically be entered for that week’s prize draw.
Deadline for entries is Monday 30th September. Usual T&Cs apply.
