Amy Lister, Jared Bell and Harry Armitage named winners at the JTL National Apprentice Awards 2023

JTL, one of the leading apprenticeship providers in the building services engineering sector in England and Wales, has named Amy Lister, Jared Bell and Harry Armitage as its winners in this year’s National Apprentice of the Year awards, which took place at The Victory Services Club in London on Wednesday 28th June.

After being crowned winners for their academic and practical progress at JTL’s Regional Awards earlier this year, Amy, Jared and Harry went on to compete against a total of twelve regional electrical and MES winners at JTL’s annual apprentice awards ceremony.

Worcester-based Amy, who works for Goodridge Electrical Contractors Ltd. was named the winner of the JTL National Apprentice of the Year Award for 2023. While Newcastle-based Jared who works for WBB Electrical Services and Leeds-based Harry who works for CTD Plumbing & Heating, were named the national winners of the Paul McNaughton Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) apprentice of the year awards respectively.

As the recipient of JTL’s National Apprentice of the Year Award 2023, Amy was presented with a £1000 cheque from JTL. Jared, meanwhile, received a Megger multi-function tester worth over £500 from sponsors Edmundson Electrical, whilst UK Plumbing Supplies Ltd donated a £500 voucher for Harry. All three also received engraved glass trophies.

Chris Claydon, Chief Executive at JTL, said: “Our National Awards are all about recognition for the hard work and achievements of our learners as well as the dedicated people that have supported them during their apprenticeship. It’s been fantastic getting to learn more about Amy, Jared and Harry as well as our other nine finalists and the journeys that they’ve been on. I wish them all the very best of luck as they continue into their careers following this incredible achievement.”

Amy, JTL’s National Apprentice of the Year for 2023, said: “I was completely shocked when I heard my name announced as the winner of the National Apprentice of the Year award. All of the finalists have been on a great journey and it’s brilliant that JTL hosts these awards to recognise everyone. The process has made me reflect on where I’ve come from and the challenges that I’ve faced. It’s been a great experience!”

JTL’s Paul McNaughton National Electrical Apprentice of the Year award winner, Jared, said on receiving his award: “I’m so pleased and proud to be named the winner of the Paul McNaughton National Electrical Apprentice of the Year award. It’s a great achievement and completely unexpected. I’d really like to thank my two employers, my training officer at JTL and my wife for all their support.”

Harry, the winner of the National MES Apprentice of the Year award, said: “I’m so proud and grateful to win this award. I really didn’t expect to be named the winner but I’m so happy to have won. Winning has given me a real confidence boost and just makes me want to keep my work standards high as I continue on my career journey.”
