C-TEC has teamed up with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in a bid to stimulate interest in engineering.
A joint C-TEC/IET ‘Celebration of Engineering’ day attracted a host of delegates keen to know more about UK manufacturing. Held at C-TEC’s Challenge Way Headquarters in Wigan, the CPD-certified event gave guests a unique insight into the 35-year history of the life-safety equipment manufacturer and an overview of the IET’s mission to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community.
Presentations included ‘Virtual 3D design backed up by physical testing and tooling’ – a timeline of the design, development and certification of a visual alarm device – and ‘Fire Alarms: A brief history and the current state of the industry’.
“The organisation of the event, venue and presentations was fantastic and the quality of the food and catering service was absolutely outstanding.”
Highlight of the day was a tour of C-TEC’s manufacturing facility. Delegates were invited to watch demonstrations of state-of-the-art JUKI surface mount machines placing components at an astonishing rate of 60,000 an hour and visit the training facilities where C-TEC trains over 1,000 engineers a year.
“The event was highly successful,” said Andy Green, C-TEC’s Marketing Manager. “We are very proud of our world-class manufacturing and training facility and welcomed the opportunity to showcase it to potential clients, industry partners and future employees.”
Andrew Kaldos of the IET’s Manufacturing and Management Group added: “The organisation of the event, venue and presentations was fantastic and the quality of the food and catering service was absolutely outstanding.”
