SPARKS Female Skills Competition 2024 Winner Announcement!

We are delighted to announce that Charlotte Bobbett from Yeovil College has been crowned the winner of the SPARKS Female Skills Competition 2024. The grand final took place on 18th April at Stephenson College, Coalville, where Charlotte showcased her exceptional skills. The runner-up spot was claimed by Anne Greaves from Leicester College.

Charlotte expressed her joy upon winning: “It feels like a dream! I didn’t expect to win the regionals, let alone be announced as the winner at the finals. I’ve also made some genuine friends. Friendship and community are the biggest takeaways for me. I’d recommend this competition to anyone considering entering. Just go for it! The sky’s the limit!”

The competition kicked off in February, attracting Level 2 and 3 learners in electrical installation from across the UK to three different regional locations. The panel of judges, under the leadership of Head Judge Darren Oates from the National Electrotechnical Training (NET), meticulously evaluated the competitors’ work to select six finalists for the climactic showdown this week.

Zoë Tanner, Managing Director at SPARKS, commented: “The remarkable talent showcased at this year’s final was truly inspiring. The dedication and level of skill these women displayed, along with the industry support witnessed at the event, is a testament to the growing inclusivity within our trade. Congratulations to all the contestants, and especially to Charlotte on her incredible win!”

Lee Baker, Territory Manager at Megger, said: “Promoting diversity is a cornerstone of our values at Megger. Supporting initiatives that enhance gender diversity within our industry is crucial. We are proud to back the SPARKS Female Skills Competition again this year, as it aligns perfectly with our commitment to these values.”

This year’s competition was backed by key industry leaders, including Megger as the Headline Sponsor, alongside Aico, Electric Center, The IET, Milwaukee, Schneider Electric, Prysmian, Snickers Workwear, Fix Radio, and the National Electrotechnical Training (NET), with Darren Oates serving as the competition’s head judge.
