The latest customer acquisition tool for trades

A new app has launched as a way for tradespeople to communicate with potential customers and secure jobs.

Paddle App was co-founded by Ben Milton – who owns a plumbing and heating company in Kent – after experiencing years of disappointment with current offerings from companies that promise to generate leads for tradespeople.

Open to 28 different trades, including plumbers, electricians, decorators and gardeners, Paddle uses location targeting to help customers find their nearest tradespeople and allows them to communicate via instant messaging, phone calls and video calls. This centralised communication means tradespeople can host all of their customer relations in one place.

Users are also able to see which trade bodies and certifications each tradesperson is associated with, providing peace of mind and job security.

Speaking of the launch, Milton said: β€œHaving worked as a tradesperson for over a decade, I know the hardships tradespeople go through when it comes to marketing themselves, securing leads, communicating with customers and ultimately securing the job. Paddle changes all of this. We wanted to make life simpler for tradespeople and let the jobs come to them.”

He added: “Paddle works on recommendations, meaning good tradespeople who are committed to the job and provide high levels of customer service will reap the rewards. There are no fake reviews or fraudulent five stars, just recommendations from other users that have had quality workmanship and would recommend a tradesperson to others in their area”.

The app has initially launched in Greater Manchester and is free for tradespeople up until 1st January 2020. From then, it costs just Β£15 + VAT per month for tradespeople, with no commission paid on jobs.

When discussing the price of the app, Milton said: β€œWe’ve also made the price point accessible to all tradespeople, whether they’re seasoned professionals or just starting out, meaning no one will be priced out of starting up on their own.”
