Yale, the leading provider of smart home security solutions is proud to announce that the BSI, British Standards Institution, has awarded its BSI Kitemark™ to the Yale Smart range, guaranteeing they have achieved the highest level of security for internet connected products.
With the popularity of smart home products rising over the past few years, the BSI launched a BSI Kitemark™ for IoT Devices in 2018. The introduction of this standard offers consumers a solution to identify trustworthy connected devices that are safe, secure and functional. The latest Kitemark has been built on the foundations laid out in the government’s ‘Secure by Design’ review in 2018, ensuring products work as advertised, following all the necessary tests and assessments.
The Sync Smart Home Alarm and Conexis® L1 are the latest products to be awarded the BSI Kitemark™, with the latter being the first approved IOT Kitemarked Smart Lock available on the market.
With the assessment process putting these selected products under rigorous testing, consumers will have peace of mind knowing, that their chosen Yale security solution is both functional and not vulnerable to security flaws. The BSI will continue to test these products on a long-term basis, routinely monitoring and assessing security levels and product quality, ensuring that the solutions are up to standard.
David Mudd, Global Digital Product Director at BSI commented, “One of the first IoT Kitemark clients, Yale has expanded their Conexis® L1 smart lock, Sync Smart Home Alarm System and digital applications under their Kitemark scope, to keep their position as one of the most secure on the market. This is testament to the high level of security Yale products meet and their commitment to customer security.”
Recent research from The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) revealed a 55% increase in “Hacking-personal” offences referred by Action Fraud1. With this significant increase in hacking offences, it’s never been more important to have smart home devices which are tested to the highest standard.
It’s not just the Sync Alarm and Conexis® L1 which are setting the standard in smart security, Yale’s range of Indoor Wi-Fi Cameras and outdoor cameras all provide end-to-end encryption. This means any footage, notifications or audio from the camera can only be accessed by the user, ensuring complete privacy and security. Yale also offers customised encryption based on the needs of the user, allowing full control over their security’s firewall settings.
Kevin Spencer, Head of Product Management at Yale UK said, “With around 15 million ‘smart homes’ in Britain, it’s essential that our smart security products not only offer convenience, but also provide the highest level of security for our customers.’’
“By working with the BSI on the testing of our Sync Smart Home Alarm and Conexis® L1 Smart Door Lock, customers will have the peace of mind that our smart solutions are up to standard through a reputable, trusted independent body’’ – he continued.
